Services

We're pleased to offer the following services at Central Texas Cat Hospital:

Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.


Surgery

We know bringing your pet in for surgery is stressful and we want to reassure you that the staff at CTCH is highly trained in all aspects of anesthesia monitoring and patient care/ comfort.  Most importantly, we too are pet owner and will do everything in our powers to treat your pet as one of ours.  The doctors, as well, will be right there throughout the entire event. 

When you schedule surgery, here are a few important things to remember.  

We will call you the night before to confirm your pet’s appointment and give you a few instructions you will need and happily answer all your questions.  

The morning of surgery, one of the technicians will review the procedure, the estimate and again answer any remaining questions you may have.   Once ready, the technician will take your pet back and let him/ her set up and comfortable prior to the procedure.  Time is allowed for your pet to settle in prior to any pre-surgical blood work or placement of an intravenous catheter for administration of medications and fluids during surgery.  Your pets ease and comfort are our primary concern. 

Pain management is essential for your pet’s comfort and success, and our staff is highly trained in all aspects of pain management modalities.   During surgery we will closely monitor your pet’s vitals to insure a smooth anesthetic event. 

The doctors at CTCH are highly trained and Dr. Murphy himself completed a surgical residency and has years of experience in the referral community prior to joining CTCH performing all surgeries from soft tissue, orthopedics, neurological to oncological surgery.

Following surgery, again, your pet’s comfort is essential; therefore, the technician will ensure a warm, comfortable recovery cage with all your pets needs met.

Following recovery, the doctor and/ or technician will call you and let you know your pet is doing well and review the procedure.  A post-operative treatment plan will be made and we will get your pet home to you as soon as possible.

As always, the staff is available to answer any and all of your questions.

 


Diagnostics

Sometimes physical examination alone is not enough to tell us what is going on with your pet.  

At CTCH, we have invested considerable education, time, and effort into obtaining and offering you and your pet the most advanced diagnostics available.  

From routine, in-house blood work to allow us to look at internal organ function to digital radiographs which allow us to look at the bones and organs themselves, we have it all.  

When further diagnostics are needed, the doctors at CTCH can also perform an ultrasound which looks at the organs in real time, cross sectional views to get even more detail. 

All of the instruments allow us to obtain more information regarding your pet’s condition in order to present you with an effective, targeted treatment plan in order to help your pet get back to health and wellness quickly.


Pharmacy

Here at CTCH we maintain an inventory of pharmaceuticals to accommodate most of our patients' medical needs. If we do not have the medicine required for your cat, we will call in a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. We never mind supplying our clients with a written script or faxing one if they can find the medicine at a more affordable price or more convenient location. Our priority is making sure our patients get the medication they need whether it is from us or elsewhere.

We also carry heartworm preventative and can set up an individualized flea control program to meet the need of each cat and his environment.

We carry prescription diets and provide dietary counseling for our clients to educate them on what food is best suited to their cat's health and weight.



Boarding

As a special service for our clients, we provide boarding. We extend our excellence in feline medicine and care for the cats that are staying at our hospital, or "spa" as our clients like to call it. Each kitty receives two adjoining condos which have an opening between the two to allow your to kitty pass from one to the other and gives them a little me room to move around while staying with us. We can also join multiple condos which will allow for multi-cat parents to keep their companions all together while they are away.





Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as accidental ingestion of rat poison, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
